veganlevel
Level A
The manufacturer has assessed all ingredients, additives and any other substances used (compound substances are assessed according their labelling) and confirms that – to the best of his/her knowledge – no substances of animal origin were used.
Level A does not include a total consideration of all substances used. It is still possible that the product contains animal substances or was manufactured using animal substances. In such cases we will contact manufacturers with regard to clarifying potentially critical substances.
Level B
The manufacturer confirms that his/her product meets the criteria of the English “Vegan Society”, with the exception of animal testing. A short summary of the Vegan society’s criteria would be: “Products are – so far as it is possible and practical – free of any animal substances.
Level B is more stringent than level A, as it is required that products actually do not contain any animal substances, as opposed to only an assessment of the ingredients list.
Level B+
The manufacturer additionally declares that the equipment used is exclusively used for products that meet the criteria for levels B or C.
Level C
The manufacturer confirms that he/she has full knowledge of the entire production process, including all ingredients, additives and any other substances used. Neither the final product nor any stage of production involves the use of animal substances.
Level C is more stringent than level B, as not only the end product but also the whole manufacturing process is taken into consideration. Products cannot meet level C if animal products are used at any stage, even if the animal substances are no longer discernible in the final product.
